**Center for Children & Families**
- “We aim to provide the highest-quality care for children and adolescents affected by mental illness. We continue to gain new insights into the causes, processes, effects and treatment of child and adolescent mental health disorders. Labs also work to better understand the various complex functions of the brain and resulting behavior.”
- Note: While most labs work with humans in behavioral and neuroimaging data collection, there are some labs housed in CCF that focus on animal models!

Stempel College of Public Health
- “Researchers study chronic diseases, healthy aging and the consequences of environmental exposure on human populations. Labs aim to understand molecular mechanisms involved in these diseases, genetic and environmental interactions, and explore possible treatments.”
- Note: These labs may be even more competitive than other labs, yet we have had many neuroscience students do amazing things in their roles as research assistants there!

Biomedical Engineering Department
- “Research is clustered into three major areas: (1) Research in Tissue Engineering Model Systems, (2) Diagnostic Bioimaging and Sensor Systems, and (3) Therapeutic and Reparative Neurotechnology. These three areas are served by technological advancements in bio-signal processing, bio-nanotechnology, cellular and tissue engineering, computational modeling, devices, and neural engineering.”
- Note: A background in engineering is not necessarily required. Contrary to some students’ perceptions, these research ****topics are highly related to neuroscience/health and the skills gained are incredibly valuable!

**Summer Research Internships**
APPLICATIONS OPEN FALL 2027!
- This database was created by past and present CAPS E-Board members to serve as a starting point for exploring prestigious SRI’s at other universities. Although an expansive and useful resource, we still encourage you to search online for programs aligning with your personal interests!
- Keep in mind, although some programs are marked “✅”, many have yet to update their program details. So don’t be alarmed if you see empty boxes, it just means the info hasn’t been posted yet!
- Legend:
- ✅ Program is good to go for summer 26’
- ⚠️ Uncertain if program will run for summer 26’
- ☂️ Umbrella Program that contains a series of other programs
- Make sure to click the triangle arrow next to the “☂️” for the drop down menu
- Umbrella programs like AMGEN and Leadership Alliance will require you to click on their website since these are not from a specific institution but rather a national consortium of institutions

Post-Bacc Programs
APPLICATIONS OPEN FALL/WINTER/SPRING
- Post-baccalaureate (post-bacc) programs are designed for students who have earned a bachelor’s degree but are looking for something to do during their gap year/s and want to strengthen their academic background, and prepare for graduate or professional schools. Programs are usually one to two years long, during this time - students can:
- Gain comprehensive research and clinical experience
- Gain stellar mentorship
- Receive admissions advise into grad or professional school
- Application support
- Improve academic record through targeted coursework
- Gain shadowing and/or volunteer opportunities
- Note: Some Post-bacc programs are curriculum-based like Master’s programs (tuition required) with the purpose of helping “career changers” and those who want to improve their GPA and overall competitiveness. On the other hand, the grand majority of programs are research-based and typically provide a stipend/salary and additional benefits.
